UGONSA SPEAKS ON COVID-19 VACCINATION

 


Graduate Nurses task Nigerians, health workers on COVID-19 Vaccination 

Vaccination 

Abakaliki, April 15, 2021 (NAN) Nigerian nurses under the aegis of University Graduates of Nursing Science Association (UGONSA) has urged Nigerians especially health workers to ensure they get vaccinated.

The association commended the Federal Government for providing COVID-19 vaccines to Nigerians, and urged Nigerians to dissuade negative speculations about the COVID-19 vaccine.

Chief Solomon Egwuenu, the National President of the association told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abakaliki that the association has been tracking the effects of the vaccination since it started and can authoritatively say that the benefits outweigh any risk by far. According to him, most Nigerians who have been vaccinated experienced no adverse reaction.

He commended the Federal Government for the procurement of the vaccines and urged it to ensure that the vaccines get to all the nooks and crannies of the nation to ensure a healthy life for Nigerians. 

Egwuenu encouraged members of the association and other health personnel to take the vaccine without delay for their safety since they work in close contact with patients.

On his part, the association's National Secretary, Nurse Philip Eteng, noted that the Nigerian health system can be further compromised by a resurgence of COVID-19 and urged Nigerians to disregard  COVID-19 conspiracy theories. 

He, therefore, said that the vaccine was a welcome development and advised Nigerians to shun negative comments concerning the vaccine and its potency and urged health workers especially nurses, who stay closest with patients round-the-clock,  to get vaccinated to forestall COVID-19 related clinical hazards.
